DESCRIPTION:Edith Read Living Shoreline Field Trip with NY Sea Grant \n\n\n\nDecember 6 @ 11:00am – 1:30pm \n\n\n\nJoin NY Sea Grant as they visit the newly constructed living shoreline at Edith Read Sanctuary in Rye\, New York. Project leaders from the Westchester County Planning and Parks Departments will guide a tour of the site and share behind-the-scenes project details. Lunch will follow where you will have the opportunity to engage in discussions with local nonprofit and community leaders. This field trip is part of a Community Resilience Project Showcase leading up to their 2024 Annual Sustainable and Resilient Communities Workshop on December 10 and 11.

Our curator Scott is hoping to fill the sanctuary nature center with photography and artwork from our members and friends. What’s your talent? Photography\, painting\, sculpture\, drawing? We’ll accept any medium! \n\n\n\nPlease stop by this Saturday and submit art of wildlife and natural landscapes. Photographs and artwork should be framed and wired for hanging. SUMMARY:Sustainable & Resilient Communities Workshop - Virtual Event
DESCRIPTION:The Long Island Sound Sustainable and Resilient Communities Team is excited to announce their 2024 Annual Workshop\, a series of virtual sessions over two days focused on their Assistance Programs\, new regional resilience resources and tools\, and a discussion on planning for inundation and different considerations communities may face. Leading up to the workshop they have planned two field trips to showcase community resilience projects in CT and NY. The NY field trip is a tour of the Living Shoreline at Edith Read on December 6. This program is funded by the US EPA and run by Long Island Sound Study and NY Sea Grant. Please reach out to them with questions via the link below.

Come and view these special portraits in our Visitor Center. \n\n\n\nWe will have an opening reception from 1-4pm honoring the artistic talents of our members and friends.  Refreshments will be provided. Exhibit will be on display through January 25th\, 2025. \n\n\n\nIf you have a photograph you’d like to submit for this exhibit\, you can bring it at this time.
